1930 Gardner 3L2
Gardner 3L2 - Year of Manufacture May / June 1930
1930 built Gardner 3L2, 28.5hp @ 1000 rpm. This engine has now been sold to grace the engine room of a narrowboat in place of another 3L2 that has cylinder block damage.
This engine was removed from a motor boat on the Isle of Wight that it had powered from new to make way for a more modern compact engine. Originally purchased by us to provide a cylinder block for another 3L2 with irrepairable damage to its block, it became evident that this 3L2 was a little special, dating from mid 1930 the engine number and a number of features on the engine make this a very, very early example of this range of engine. Therefore here at MPS we couldn't let this engine fade away to a spares source, so nearly 10 years of parts sourcing from all over the world has got this engine ready to power another vessel well past it's 100th birthday.
