1976 built Gardner 6LXB (150hp @ 1500rpm) originally from a Smith's crane this 6LXB was sent to us for overhaul and conversion to automotive spec to repower an Scammell Explorer currently fitted with a Meadows petrol engine. The overhaul and conversion was to include a change to enclosed automotive type bell housing and flywheel, addition of oil cooler pump and pipework and resetting of the injector pumps for the automotive 180hp @ 1850rpm rating. The project was however put on hold by the engines owner.
